Caring for Your Vinyl Composite (VCT) Tile Floor

Vinyl Composite Tile (VCT) is a modern versatile floor tile composed of miniscule PVC chips formed into solid sheets of varying thicknesses before being cut into squares for floors. Created by pressure and heat, VCT has proven to be a very popular floor choice in commercial properties because of its durability, design options and ease of maintenance. However, routine care is key to its longevity.

Caring for VCT begins with a few simple tasks:

  • Walk-off Mats. We all know those first few steps onto a floor is space that takes the greatest wear. So it’s important to have a mat ready to absorb those footsteps, clearing debris from footwear before it burrows in.
  • Daily Cleaning. Sweeping and dust-mopping will collect particles before they have a chance to nick, scrape or get lost in the composite. Then a damp or auto-scrub application to buff and shine will serve you well, too.
  • Periodic Re-polishing. After a deep scrub, a new layer of polish will add shine and a protective finish as well.
